Ash performs at the Femina Miss India but it was a per-recorded act
For some, Beyoncé Knowles’ Super Bowl halftime show was the Big Game’s finest moment. It was clear the new celebrity mummy in the block brought her A game on stage.
So a die-hard Bollywood fan like me couldn’t stop wondering if Beyonce can do it why Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, after her prolonged pregnancy can’t do it.
A gritty woman that she is, Ash smacked back with a high voltage performance. More like Beyonce? Oh Yes! Like Beyonce during President Barack Obama’s second inauguration – pre-recorded.
After 3 years and post-pregnancy, Aishwarya Rai performed on stage and boy, she deserves a standing ovation.
The former Miss World is sort of reviving her Bollywood career on the same stage that commenced her journey as a diva.
Ash sizzled on a song from her film ‘Guzaarish’ at the Pond’s Femina Miss India 2013 contest, held at Yash Raj Studios, in Mumbai, on March 24, 2013. There is no doubt she gave a scintillating performance.
But what stopped Ash from performing LIVE? A pre-recorded, edited to perfection, with beautiful close ups somehow diluted the charm of watching Aishwarya Rai’s performance.
Did anyone notice Ash changed from heels to flats mid-way? Ash wears many hats errrr shoes!.
Other Bollywood stars like Priyanka Chopra, Sonu Nigam, Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani grooved on stage to the audience’s delight.
So did Aishwarya chicken out at the last minute or was it decided much before that one of the most beautiful women in the world will record her act? It is very unlikely that the former Miss World and face of international brand suffered stage fright.
Or maybe just like Beyonce, Ash wanted her performance to be flawless and on her drive to give a perfect act she recorded her dance.
When it was revealed that Beyonce’s rendition for Obama’s inauguration was lip-synced fans reacted with outrage but we star-struck Bollywood fans are more forgiving.
After all Ash is a busy celebrity, she had other engagements like inaugurate retail stores of jewelry brand she endorses.
Nonetheless, she has sounded the bugle to mark her return to the big screen; something to cheer for at the end of the day.
