Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma play lovers whose lives intermingle with the evolution of the city of Bombay through the 50s to early 70s in their next movie ‘Bombay Velvet’. Director Anurag Kashyap is all set to recreate Bombay in Sri Lanka. The entire ‘Bombay Velvet’ team is off to the island country for the first schedule of the movie.
Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, filmmaker Karan Johar, Kaykay, Satyadeep Mishra, vivaan shah and Manish Chaudhary along with director Anurag Kashyap are now in Sri Lanka. On his way to Sri Lanka Anurag Khasyap tweeted: “Leaving For Srilanka.. Bombay Velvet begins , finally , for real, 9 years after we began work on it @Prakashzone @Vasan_Bala @FuhSePhantom”.
Interestingly, director and producer Karan Johar will play an antagonist in the film. Speaking to the press he said he feels awkward to act but is happy with the fact that Ranbir Kapoor will be by his side. The filmmaker is certain that the Kapoor boy, who is also a friend, will make him comfortable in the sets.
Calling Anurag a spontaneous director KJo gives immense respect to the director. Karan has already lost 10 kilos till now. He is on a weight loss spree and is still losing more. Anushka Sharma gave several look tests for the movie and her look will seek inspiration from the retro fashion in the film.
The movie is set against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and jazz, and it seems Anushka’s role and look has to do with the music scene of the city at that time. ‘Bombay Velvet’ will see her in varied looks as the movie chronicles the changing face of the metropolis over the period of two decades.
Ranbir Kapoor is also busy training in multiple martial arts for the movie. Fans have already witnessed Ranbir-Anushka camaraderie when they co-hosted the inaugural TOIFA awards in Vancouver. Well, that camaraderie also got Ranbir into trouble. The lover-boy had a taste of jealous girlfriend Katrina Kaif’s temper.
The story goes that Ranbir’s ‘high spirited’ chemistry with Anushka Sharma during the ceremony, didn’t go down too well with Katrina. In fact, she was so upset with Ranbir that she even skipped the entire show and appeared only for her performance. There were even talks of a showdown after the ceremony.
Ranbir, being the ‘good boyfriend’ he is, stepped in to pacify an upset Katrina, and ensured they even travelled together to Mumbai. But, that didn’t seem to work. So, the following day, Ranbir had to drive to Katrina’s house, pick her up and take her home for a long, late-night patch-up session. Now that Anushka and Ranbir is going to be in far flung Sri Lanka we guess Katrina must be on high alert.
‘Bombay Velvet’ will release on Christmas 2014. (GN)
