Hyderabad: All morning show of the much-awaited Kamal Haasan starrer ‘Uttama Villain’ was cancelled on its opening day Friday due to some unprecedented financial roadblocks.

A huge crowd gathered outside the Prasad Multiplex as many eager cinergoers booked tickets for the 8.45 am show. The theatre officials announced the show was cancelled as they didn’t receive the digital print of the film. The shows have been cancelled all across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana due to financial issues the film suffered before its initial release date.

Apart from this film, another called ‘Ganga’, produced by Bellamkonda Suresh and directed by Raghava Lawrence, has also cancelled its morning shows as prints didn’t arrive in time. The film’s Tamil version has already been released.

Both films are in complete financial turmoil. When asked about the delay in the film’s release the producer of the ‘Uttama Villain’, C Kalyan said, “Some financial problems are still on. They may be settled at any time and the film may screen from the afternoon.”

Also a rumour doing rounds was that Hindu activists had a problem with the film. “It’s not true, the film’s delay is purely because of financial matters,” confirmed the producer.
