Film’s lead pair team up five years after they worked in ‘Om Shanti Om’
With ‘Chennai Express’, Shah Rukh ‘Rahul’ Khan turns 40, proving that age is finally catching up with his reel avatar. Well, better late than never.
The trailer of the much-awaited Rohit Shetty’s ‘Chennai Express’ is finally out. The film is a romantic comedy and promises lots of action.
With this film, SRK teams up with the hot-and-happening Deepika Padukone for the second time, five years after she entered the film industry on his arms.
Apart from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, Sathyaraj, Manorama, Nikitin Dheer and Rani Mukherji also feature in ‘Chennai Express’.
The film is an experiment for Shah Rukh Khan and the film’s director Rohit Shetty. Both have gone beyond their comfort zone to team up with each other.
However, there are a few moments that might give the viewers a feeling of SRK déjà vu. The blink-and-you-miss shot of Deepika holding hands with SRK as a train prepares to depart from a railway station. Yet another shot where SRK revives his ‘KKKKiran’ stutter and finally the words on the screen towards the end of the trailer… ‘Come fall in love’ (remember ‘DDLJ’).
Well, if the trailer is anything to go by, fans will get to watch a complete lowdown of SRK’s ‘style’ hits and misses throughout his career in ‘Rohit Shetty shtyle’.
The audience can only hope that this experiment works out for the entities involved. After all, SRK has taken yet another big risk as he attempts to woo viewers from South India, given that the film is also his home production.
For the uninitiated, ‘Chennai Express’ has been produced by SRK’s wife Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner
Once you view the trailer, don’t forget to let us know about your first impression of the film.
‘Chennai Express’ is scheduled to be released around the Eid weekend on August 8.
