New Delhi: Life’s on the ‘Highway’ of success for the pretty and talented actress Alia Bhatt. After giving back-to-back hits with ‘Highway’, ‘2 States’ and ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’, Alia has become the first choice for many directors.
And as expected, the actress is flooded with offers, so much so that she’s now in a dilemma as to which offers to choose over others.
Rumours were rife that Abhishek Chaubey had offered the lead role of his upcoming movie ‘Udta Punjab’ opposite Shahid Kapoor to Alia, previously offered to Priyanka Chopra. But Abhishek confirms that Alia was indeed the first choice for the movie, of which Ayushmann Khurrana and Shahid’s ex girlfriend Kareena Kapoor is also a part.
Alia was also offered debutant director Shujaat Saudagar’s ‘Rock On 2′, whose shooting had to start at around the same time as ‘Udta Punjab’ in 2015. After much deliberation that also included her father Mahesh Bhatt, Alia opted to do Abhishek Chaubey’s movie with Shahid Kapoor, her second consecutive film after Vikas Bahl’s ‘Shaandaar’ with the same co-star.
While we wonder what led Alia to choose ‘Udta Punjab’ over ‘Rock On 2′, sources close to the actress say, “Rock On 2 is an ensemble cast and the girl’s part is that of the band member who replaces Luke Kenny whose character died in ‘Rock On’. If you see her roles so far, Alia has done only solo-heroine films. This is not to say she won’t work in films with an ensemble cast. But if she’s offered something as challenging as ‘Udta Punjab’ which tests her abilities further and where she’s the female lead opposite Shahid, then why not this?”
We quite like how Alia is strategizing her career and moves perfectly and just hope her gambles pay off well.
