Mumbai: The audio track of Badlapur’s song ‘Jee Karda’ is out and although we have to wait a little while longer before we can see the video, the song in Divya Singh’s voice will make you hit the replay button.
In ‘Jee Karda’, composers Sachin and Jigar add a little fusion and indie flair to this song’s tune, which is reminiscent of Sufi music. Divya Kumar belts out the song with just the right amount of agony in his voice and the lyrics, written by Priya Panchal, add to the tragic intensity of the song. With lyrics like “Rabba mere, mujhe ghar pe tere, kabhi bula teri chokat pe, de de aur jo dard ho baki, rula mujhe raj raj ke..ho aaj mera jee karda”, this song from Badlapur is richly emotional and an excellent introduction to Sriram Raghavan’s film about a man who chooses vengeance over being good.
Varun Dhawan, who stars in lead role, told The Times Of India, “…I believe this song (‘Jee Karda’) will work purely because of its emotional poetry, which explains the entire film.” The song also accompanies the trailer of the film.
The trailer of Badlapur was launched last week and Dhawan’s look as well as the trailer has garnered a fantastic response. Even Salman Khan was all praise for Dhawan when he saw the trailer.
The actor wrote on his Twitter feed, “Wah yaar! Kamaal karte ho mr varun! Badlapur! Already trying different stuff. Film is looking good. Baap ka record tod do jaldi. Happy for you.”
In Badlapur, Dhawan plays a man intent upon avenging a wrong that was done to him. Not only does Dhawan play a young man as well as a 40-year-old in the film, he takes on Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the seriously bad guy in the film. Dhawan is seen butchering an unseen body in a room that’s covered in plastic sheets (a bit like the setting in which serial killer Dexter deals with his victims in the television show Dexter).
Also in the cast of Badlapur are Yami Gautam, Huma Qureshi and Divya Dutta. [You can read more about the trailer here].Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film is slated to release on February 20, 2015.
