Actor Chetan has always been vocal about social, political and environmental issues. He does not minces words when it comes to subjects close to his heart. In fact, in his latest post on Facebook, the Mynaa actor has taken a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his environmental policies.
Here what the actor has written…
Subsequent to July 29th, 2014, India’s Adani Group, the nation’s controversial business conglomerate, purchased the Carmichael Coal Mine, Australia’s 200 sq km mine off the coast of Queensland.
Conservationists assess that the coal mine itself and material extraction/transportation will have devastating effects on the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders, and all ecology living within its surroundings.
Today, the State Bank of India has proposed a $1 billion loan to the Adani Group for the coal mine project.
The facts are the following: firstly, India’s Prime Minster, Narendra Modi, has supervised the deal among SBI, Adani, and Queensland’s Premier Campbell Newman; secondly, the Adani Group Chairman was selected as a G20 delegation member to Brisbane, Australia; thirdly, US banking firms like Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, & JP Morgan Chase have refused to fund the coal project claiming environmental concerns.
Protecting the environemt is our global responsibility.
We ask that our India government and those at the highest levels of administration refrain from using our public funds & nation’s wealth for destruction of life anywhere in the world.
