On November 29th, all roads will lead to Sri Kanteerava Studio, where a gala ceremony has been organized to inaugurate the Dr Rajkumar Memorial. Several dignitaries from the film industry will be attending the ceremony. Superstars Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal and Mammootty will be among the chief guests in the ceremony.
But it seems like the event will not go without glitch. The Kiss of Love campaign’s Bangalore Chapter will be organizing their ‘unique’ protest in Bengaluru on the same day. The idea of the protest is to dissuade moral policing by self styled activists in the name of culture and tradition.
There is nothing wrong against protesting! But one has to see the vile scenes that usually take place in the Kiss of Love campaign that has been organized so far. It started in Kochi and has spread to other parts of India. Nobody is interested in seeing the proclivities of two people in public.
However, these activists go out in streets and kiss each other. Another disturbing fact is that some of the younger actors and actresses are ready to support these activists in the Kiss of Love campaign. The film industry has announced 2 days of holiday on the occasion of the event, but it seems like these junior artists would rather attend the Kissing campaign. The Kiss of Love campaign is very controversial. I do not understand as why this was the only way for the youngsters to protest against moral policing.
The campaign is done under the police protection as there is high chances of violence. On November 29th, the police department will be overburdened with managing the events. This campaign will obviously add extra pressure on the overburdened police department. I cannot fathom the reason to why such a campaign is being organized on the day when the whole state is celebrating the achievement of a man. Dr Rajkumar was not just an actor par excellence, he was also an exemplary human being. Why are this misguided youngsters trying to ruin the day?
