BANGALORE : As is the case every year, a bundle of cinematic treats are all set for release on Diwali to entertain eager viewers. A couple of Kannada films will clash and cash in on the festive mood of the audiences.
Initially, mega projects including Belli, starring Shivarajkumar, and Ambareesha, starring Darshan, were expected to be part of the race. However, as per latest reports, only Fair & Lovely and Namaste Madam will hit the screens. While Nee Naadena settled for a pre-Diwali release on Friday, the makers of Belli have planned theirs on October 31, around Kannada Rajyotsava. Then will come Ambareesha and Mr and Mrs Ramachari.
Director Raghuram’s Fair & Lovely, starring Prem and Shweta Srivatsav, is made with a decent budget. The message of the film, says the filmmaker, is, “Accept everything, expect nothing.” According to him, the audience loves to watch such films.
“Technically, we were supposed to come out a month ago, but due to other releases and censor staff problems, we pushed it to October 24. Luckily, it turned out to be Diwali (Balipandyami),” he says.
“Fair & Lovely will add a lot of sparkle to the festival celebrations. Along with the fun part, we want the audience to take home a good message as well. Our film will have an impact on at least 10 out of 100 people who come to the theatres,” he goes on to add.
Namaste Madam, on the other hand, is a medium-budget film directed by R Raghuraj, starring Srinagar Kitty, Ragini Dwivedi and Nikesha Patel. “Diwali is a family festival and our film is an out-and-out family comedy,” says Raghuraj.
The film revolves around the relationship between a couple. “Every wife should trust her husband and every husband should be sincere to his wife.Where there is trust, there is no room for insecurity. Namaste Madam is a must watch for all couples this Diwali,” he further says.
Besides Kannada, other films that are expected to make a huge turnover this Diwali include Farah Khan’s multi-starrer Happy New Year in Hindi, and Kaththi, starring Vijay, and Vishal’s Poojai in Tamil. The Telugu and Tamil versions of Happy New Year and the Telugu version of Poojai will also be released around the same time.
