Udupi; Feb 18: Inaugurating the ‘Tulu lyrics contest ‘organized on behalf of Udupi Tulu Koota in commemoration of 19th year’s Late Nittoor Sanjeeva Bhandary, on Feb 16, Sunday in Udupi Badagabettu society’s Jagannatha Sabha Bhavan, Babu Amin, Tulu folklore song’s scholar said in his speech that if the past traditions are being continued during auspicious celebrations, it is possible to save Tulu language along with the culture.
He further said that it is necessary to hold Tulu district conference and writer’s workshop. From this Tulu language cannot be destroyed at any time. Though there are youths to follow Tulu traditions, we are finding scarcity of people who can guide them properly, he added.
Jayakara Shetty,Indrali,president of Tulu Koota has presided over the programme.Chief guests like writer Kathyayini Kunjubettu,Parkala lion’s club president Gangadhar.B spoke on the occasion.Koota’s vice president U.Damodhar,treasurer M.G.Chaitanya were present.
Competition’s convener Bhuvana Prasad Hegde welcomed. Tulu Koota’s Secretary Gangadhar Kidiyur poposed vote of thanks. Joint secretary Santhosh Kumar hosted the programme.
Competitions were held for college students, junior, adult and senior division and for public open to all categories.
