Karkala; Jan 29: Kadaba Dinesh, MD and G.V.S.Ullal said in their joint statement that Tulu language, which has got about three thousand years of history and has its own script and in order to give classic status in the constitution and to teach Namma Tulu language, NammaTulunad trust Udupi and in Dakshina Kannada district’s all the taluks, Namma Tulunad units will be starting.
While speaking in Kakrala Jnana Jyothi about this said that Tulu language had its own script prior to Pancha Dravida languages. But in the wake of delay in discovering Tulu language’s script, it remained as unrecognized language, he said.
Though, we have been fighting to recognize and to include, Tulu language in the constitution, nothing has been done in this regard so far. The current 22 languages have been included in 8th section of the constitution without any hassles, similarily complete Tulu speaking people are demanding to include Tulu language in 8th section of the constitution, he said.
In order to promote the popularization of Tulu, through central committee, teaching of Tulu script programme has been organized and those are interested to learn, they can learn, it said. Currently after starting new unit in Karkala, 27 people have already learnt Tulu script and through them informations about Tulu script will be given, he said.
U.T.Khader, minister for health and family welfare will inaugurate the programme. Legislator V.Sunil Kumar will inaugurate the ‘Namma Tulunad, Karkala unit and Tulu script learning workshop will be inaugurated by former MLA Gopala Bhandary.Honorary president of Namma Tulunad Harikrishna Punaroor will preside over the function.
Chief guests like CMC president Rehamat Sheikh, taluk panchayat president Rashmi Shetty, Tulu litterateur Uggappa Poojary and among others will be participating in the programme.
