Mangaluru, October 30: MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik in a press meet here has strongly condemned the statements of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over his recent statements about beef. He said it is sad that the CM has made such statements that hurt the sentiments of the people belonging to majority Community.
The chief minister of the State had said in a meeting that, till date I have never eaten beef. But if I want to eat beef, I will eat it. Nobody can stop me.
In Democratic system, it is our duty to respect the sentiments of every one. As a Chief Minister, it is his constitutional duty to treat all the citizens equally. Capt Ganesh Karnik recalling the oath taken in the name of constitution, said, for hurting the sentiments of the majority community, on behalf of the citizens of the state, he would ask him to seek the apology of citizens of the state and demand him to discharge his duties in unbiased manner.
Capt Gaensh KArnik informed that as such kind of sad statements will breed hatred between the communities and creates unrest in the society; I will urge the Chief Minister to immediately withdraw his statements.
