“Pingara Rajyotsava Award” to be conferred to Joseph Crasta of Snehalaya.

Mangaluru, October 27: Joseph Crasta, managing trustee of Snehalaya Charitable Trust, has been selected for the 11th ‘Pingara Rajyotsava Award-2015′ for his social service, announced Roy Castelino, ‘Pingara Rajyotsava Award’ committee member. On November 17th, this award will be conferred at Don Bosco hall at 5 pm.

Addressing a press meet organised by ‘Pingara’ Kannada Weekly at Hotel Woodlands here on Tuesday October 27th, Roy Castelino, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy informed this to the media. For many years, Joseph Crasta has been serving the aged, poor, destitute, orphans, and the needy at his Snehalaya Charitable Trust. Presently he is taking care of 120 such people at Snehalaya by providing them free food, shelter and treatment.

Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangaluru diocese will preside over the ceremony and present the award.

Chief guests on this occasion will be State minister for sports, youth services and fisheries Abhaychandra Jain, MLC Ivan D’Souza, MLA J R lobo, Elias Sanctis and Roy Castelino.

This year 17 applications were received by the selection committee received for the award.  The award selection committee comprised of Roy Castellino, Dr B G Suvarna, Harikrishna Punaroor, Fr William Menezes, Rohan Monteiro, Elias Fernandes, C G Pinto and Dr Ronald Anil Fernandes.

In the press meet, Fr William Menezes, Dr B G Suvarna, Rohan Monteiro, Harikrishna Punaroor, and Elias Fernandes were present.
