Mangaluru, October 23: Two students on a bike were critically injured in a collision between a bike and car that took place in front of petrol bunk in Bejai Kapikad here during late night on Thursday. The incident came to light on Friday, October 23rd morning.
The injured youths are identified as Praful Shetty (23) resident of Belthangady and Saurav Shetty (20), resident of Bejai. Prapul Shetty was riding the bike while Saurav Shetty was pillion rider.
Praful Shetty was injured badly on his leg and is being treated in the ICU. Surgery will be done today evening, said the family sources. Saurav Shetty has also suffered injuries in his leg and has been shifted to the ward.
It is learnt that as usual; Dinesh, resident of Bejai Anegundi was driving his car home that was parked near petrol bunk in Kapikad. While crossing a road, a speeding bike that arrived from Kuntikan side collided to the car, it is said.
As an impact of the collision, the bike rolled and fell to a ditch close by. Two students who were travelling on the bike were critically injured in the accident and they were immediately rushed to AJ Hospital in the city.
Both the car and bike were badly damaged in the accident.
A case has been registered at Bunder police station and investigations are underway.
