Kundapur, September 29: In connection to the murder of former Beejady gram panchayat member Jayamala, Kundapur police have arrested the accused. The murder took place on Sunday night September 27th at Koraga colony of Kumbhashi.
Jayamala’s live in partner Papanna was arrested by the police near Chempi at Saligrama on Tuesday September 29th.
It is said, both Jayamala and Papanna were drunk on Sunday and had quarrelled. On Monday morning September 28th, the locals saw Jayamala lying dead outside the house. Papanna went absconding after the incident.
Police sources said that he confessed that he had killed Jayamala by hitting her with a staff in a fit of rage. Papanna has said that he was not legally married to Jayamala, but they were living together.
