Smart City Project: Meeting convened to discuss methods to make Mangaluru appear in first list.

Mangaluru, September 18: Presided over by district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai, a meeting was convened at the DC’s office here on Friday September 18th to discuss plans in order to ensure that Mangaluru finds a place in the first list of 20 Smart Cities. Mangaluru is one among the six cities from Karnataka chosen for Smart City Mission.

The meeting discussed steps to be taken such that Mangaluru appears in the first list of the Smart City project.

Discussion was also held pertained to submission of proposal to the central government to include Mangaluru in the first list of 20 cities. District incharge minister suggested officials to form a task force to work towards this. City corporation consultant explained the technical details of Smart City project.

MLA J R Lobo asked the officials to highlight the plus points of Mangaluru in the proposal. Smart City project should bring more investment to Mangaluru so that there will be economic growth.

The DC A B Ibrahim directed the concerned officials to prepare a project report by October end.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, DCA B Ibrahim, MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Mayor Jacintha Alfred, consultancy team appointed by the union government and MCC officials were present during the meeting.
