Three day long 20th district Kannada literary conference inaugurated in Kateel

Mangaluru, August 29: Huge inflow of people was witnessed as the three-day long 20th district Kannada literary conference was inaugurated in Kateel at the Saraswati Sabha Mantapa in the premises of Kateel Shree Durga Parameshwari temple on Friday August 28th.

Karnataka legislative council chairman D H Shankaramurthy inaugurated the event in a traditional way by opening the coconut flower.

Addressing the gathered he said, today Kananda has obtained the strength of the state language as well as the administrative language. So there is no need to fear that Kannada language might decline. Debate has to be done on lunching new Kannada literatures, he said.

Formerly, speaking in English in the legislative assembly and council was reputation. But now all converse in Kannada there. Love towards Kannada has developed to such an extent that if the officials present the files and letters in English, they go forward to tear them off. Now the fear of Kananda language going extinct has to be left over and the literary conferences have to inspire for the works on Kannada literatures giving good messages and guidance, expressed Shankaramurthy.

Union law minister DV Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

Speaking on this occasion he said, it is seen in the society that there is lack of harmony, affection, and trust. Attempts are to be made to root this out through the literature. The conference must also lay emphasis on reading good literatures, he said.

Our vision has to be changed towards education reform: Dr Sukumar Gowda.

Presiding over the ceremony Dr Sukumar Gowda said, the feeling has to arise that education- instead of becoming an item production mode, must be a process of development of individual. Hence if a reform is needed in education, first our vision must change. Humanitarian aspects should increase in the education system. Teaching-learning classes must become the thinking centres of teacher-pupils. It must emphasize on the originality and creativity, suggested Dr Sukumar Gowda to the Educational Institutions.

Vidvan Harinarayana Dasa Asranna welcomed the gathering. Bhuvanaabhirama Udupa thanked. Manjula Shetty, and Sharath Shetty mastered the ceremony.

Eleven achievers in different fields were also honoured with ‘Vidvan’ on this occasion.

Sports Minister K Abhayachandra Jain, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, DK Zilla Panchayat president Asha Thimmappa Gowda, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, temple manager Ningayya, committee member Bhuvanabhirama Udupa, Priest of Kateel Church Fr Francis Gomes, Jayaram Poonja, Sainath Shetty, Dayananda Kateel, DDPI Walter D’Mello and Bharath Seva Dal district organizer T S Manjegowda were present among others on this occasion.

On this occasion, exhibition of books in Kannda, literatures related to Yakshagana, Swavalambi Sante and many other exhibitions was also inaugurated.
