Site selection panel on IIT arrives in Mysuru

IIT_Team-1_2525567fMYSURU, August 27:  The site selection committee for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), which arrived here on Wednesday night, took part in a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Thursday where a presentation was made on the proposal for establishing the premier institute in Mysuru.

Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha made the PowerPoint presentation before the team comprising R. Subramanian, Additional Secretary (Technical Education), MHRD, New Delhi; Sudhir L. Jain, Director, IIT-Gandhinagar; and Ravi Kant Soni, Chief Engineer, CPWD, Bengaluru.

Bharat Lal Meena, Principal Secretary, Higher Education; Mysuru MP Pratap Simha; Chamarajnagar MP R. Dhruvanarayan; and other officials concerned were present.

After the meeting, the committee went for site inspection. Over 499 acres had been identified near Tandavapura for setting up the IIT.
