Mangaluru, August 3: The ’logo’ launch ceremony of Mangalore Premier League (MPL) 2.0 was held at Forum Fiza Mall on August 2nd.
Minister for youth empowerment and sports K Abhaychandra Jain unveiled the logo. The theme song titled Amaco MPL T20 Mangalore Premier League was also released during the event.
The MPL second edition is scheduled to take place at NMPT ground at Panambur from December 15th to 27th – 2015. The last edition took place in 2010. The 12 teams from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi will participate in the event.
The organisers also felicitated cricketers from Mangaluru zone of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) who have played in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) including Nishith Raj, Sinan Abdul Khader, Nithin Mulki Nihal Ullal, Ritesh Bhatkal, Darshan Machaiah, Mashooq Hussain and Bharath Dhuri. The zone consists of DK, Udupi and Kodagu districts.
Nihal and Sinan expressed opinion that MPL will also boost the local cricket and the participants can utilize this event to showcase their talents at the KPL, and also in the Indian Premier League.
