Mangaluru, July 30: A youth went missing after a boat carrying sand capsized in River Netravati at Kadavinabali at Pavoor here on Wednesday July 29th.
The missing youth is Luqman (20), son of Shareef, a resident of Rajagudde, Harekala.
Badruddin, Aziz, and Ameer, the sons of Podiyabba residing in Harekala along with his son in law Saleem were carrying the work of loading sand to the boats. As it is rainy season, the workers hailing from Uttar Pradesh have gone to their native. So, along with these four men, Luqman the grandson of Podiyabba also joined in extracting sand from Monday. Luqman was an auto rickshaw driver.
On Wednesday at around 3 pm, the five men after loading sand to the boat from near Vulachil and were moving towards Harekala. When they reached the middle of the river, the boat capsized. The four members swam safely to the bank while Luqman drowned.
The locals, fire personnel and the police have continued their attempt to trace him.

The locals said, Luqman knows swimming, they expressed suspicions that when the boat capsized, he might have got injured, and got drowned in the river being unable to swim.
