Mangaluru, February 18: A protest was staged by the auto drivers demanding to rise the auto fares from the current minimum fare of Rs 20 to Rs 25.
Protesting in front of the Deputy Commissioners office on Wednesday, February 18th, they alleged that the deputy commissioner has failed to protect their interests while taking the decision on fare revisal.
Although there is a considerable fall in the oil prices, the spare parts of autorickshaw and other daily commodities have not been brought down yet. The tyre and maintenance costs of the autorickshaw have also gone up.
Hence it is undesirable that the auto rickshaw fares have been brought down, alleged the protesters.
