Mumbai: The first look of the Kangana Ranaut starrer Katti Batti is out and it shows her as an art student, who seems to be quite a poser. The first thing that strikes us about her look are the nearly two dozen bangles adorning her left wrist and the clunky watch on her right hand. Unless she is adept at weightlifting, we can’t fathom how she carries a jewellery showroom on her wrists and still manages to paint.
Reports say that Ranaut’s character in the film is called Payal. She is an art student and is in love with her classmate played by Imran Khan.
Going by this photo, the brief for Ranaut’s stylist was ‘bohemian’. That explains the yellow ghagra skirt with a printed underlay and the scarf draped like a poncho over her top.
Kangana’s pretty face is framed with soft curls and a fringe.
However, in true Bollywood tradition her styling seems to have nothing to do with the profession she is said to be pursuing in the film. Though she is seen perched on a stool before a canvas and there’s a desk full of paint brushes and colours, Kangana’s fingers are perfectly manicured and clean right to the long nails. She even wears a ring the size of Saturn on her finger.
Unless of course, Payal is committed to the cause of Facebook and makes sure she is photographed in her fashion mag painter avatar before she actually paints, the look is pretty and completely unreal.
The only painting around her looks like an enlarged version of something that a kindergarten kid has drawn.
Katti Batti is touted to be a ‘different’ kind of rom-com and will be directed by Nikhil Advani of Kal Ho Na Ho fame. According to a report the film explores the modern day relationship of a live-in couple played by Ranaut and Khan.
Ranaut will play the role of a modern woman who has ‘unconventional thoughts about marriage and motherhood’ which do not match that of Khan’s character, who has orthodox middle class values. Complications arise when Ranaut’s character gets pregnant.
Katti Batti will be produced by UTV Motion Pictures and is slated to release on 18 September, 2015.
