BANGALORE: The British Labour Party has elected former mayor of  The London Borough of Lambeth and NRI, Dr Neeraj Patil to its prestigious National Policy Forum for a two-year term.

The National Policy Forum is a centrally elected body that formulates Labour Party policy, which is subject to vote at the party’s annual conference held every September.

In a statement, MP Keith Vaz, applauded the election of Patil to the National Policy Forum and said: “The Labour Party has always been the voice of Black Ethnic Minorities (BAME) and has more BAME MPs and councillors in its fold than any other party in Britain.”

Vaz is the longest serving MP of Indian-origin in United Kingdom.
