In a HORRIFYING case, a 44-year-old man raped his teenage daughter and got her pregnant. Later, he, along with his mother, disposed of the body of the baby. A case has been registered with the Sangvi police.
According to the police, the 17-year-old girl was admitted to hospital on February 21. There, her father Vithal Pawar (44) and his mother Rama (66, names changed) told hospital staffers that the girl had been made pregnant by a lover. However, the man had been raping his daughter since she was nine.

Police Sub-Inspector Chaya Kamble, the investigating officer in the case, said, “The survivor has said in her complaint that her father had been raping her since she was nine years old. She got pregnant this time, and her father took her to Sassoon Hospital on February 21. But, since the family had told doctors it was an affair that got the girl pregnant, no action was taken.
“The girl then delivered a baby boy in Washim district,” added Kamble. Washim is about 450 kilometres away from Pune. Later, Vithal and Rama disposed of the infant. The survivor was shifted to Chaitanya Mahila Mandal, an NGO working for the welfare of women.
The girl confided in, and revealed her ordeal to, a worker at the shelter, after which an NGO official lodged a case with the police on her behalf.
Both the father and grandmother were arrested last evening. The teen’s father works at a popular mall in the city as a conservancy staffer. The duo was booked under Section 376 (rape) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. They will be produced in court today.
