30-year-old watchman at Rajshri Productions, arrested from West Bengal for killing another guard, had ordered a country-made pistol to carry out a revenge killing, cops said
The Dadar police have arrested a security guard who killed his colleague and left his body on the loft of the pantry at Rajshri Productions office in Prabhadevi.

Pics/Emmanual KarbhariThe police said they have arrested the accused, Totan Tarak Bishwas (30), who is originally from West Bengal. They said he was about to kill one more person and had also ordered for a country-made pistol.
“On March 9, Bishwas took Imam’s phone and spoke to someone in his native village and asked for a country-made pistol,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) Dhananjay Kulkarni. “Imam got angry as Bishwas had used his phone to order an illegal pistol,” said Kulkarni. The two had an argument and Bishwas slapped Imam and later strangulated him with his socks.
“When Rajshri Productions manager Shivaji Javalkar lodged a complaint with us on March 11 about a body found in their pantry loft, we enquired of the security company and were told about Bishwas who, along with Imam, used to work nights at the production house,” said Kulkarni.
Bishwas had apparently fled after telling the firm he had to go see a relative who was unwell. Before leaving, he collected his salary and identity documents from the company. “This increased our suspicion. We enquired of his bank and learnt that he had withdrawn money in Malda in Bengal,” said Anand Jadhave, police sub-inspector of Dadar police station.
A police team left for West Bengal and learnt from Bishwas’s family members he was at his uncle Keshav Bhandari’s home at Madanpura, PO Nagar at Indo-Bangladesh border. He was picked up soon after.
Family feud started it
The police said that Bishwas had found out about his wife’s illicit relationship, back in West Bengal last year, after which the couple had a major fight. “As the woman was not listening to him, he fired three rounds at her, but she was saved. Later, a case for attempted murder was registered against the accused,” said Jadhav.
The accused then came to Mumbai. Then, one of his wife’s relatives killed his uncle’s son, and he wanted to seek revenge and kill the person he thought had killed his cousin. That’s why he had ordered for the country-made pistol.
Security guards turning a threat?
In the recent past, this is the third case where security guards were found involved in grave crimes like murder and rape.
>> In the wee hours of January 24, a 28-year-old woman who got home drunk to her Powai apartment passed out near the elevator, following which she was allegedly raped by security guard Pramod Upadhyay.
>> In August last year, a 25-year-old woman was raped and then killed by a 22-year-old security guard, Sajjad Ahmed Mughal, who cops said is originally from Baramulla in Kashmir.
DCP Kulkarni said, “We request all companies to do background checks before they hire security guards and train them every now and then.”
