Mumbai : 35 Yakshagana Artists most of them are prominent senior Artists from Karavali Karnataka honored during the Silver Jubilee ceremony of Kala Prakasha Prathisthana, Mumbai held on 2nd October at Buntara Sangha’s Radhabhai T Bhandary Auditorium, Kurla, Mumbai.
Since last 25 years Prakash M. Shetty, Suratkal of Mumbai brings the Yakshagana team from Costal Karnataka to Mumbai for performance.
Sanoor Santinja Janardhan Bhat and SN Udupa inagurated this full day programme along with the guests and office bearers of Kala Prakasha Prathisthana.
The inaugural programme was presided over by Surendrakumar Hegde, president of Kannada Kalavidhara Parishat, Maharashtra. Referring to the felicitation extended to the Artists (including retired artists, Bhagwaths, etc.) he said this felicitation is completely genuine and they are the right choice for felicitation. He also said that we have to support our art and culture not only in Karnataka but also in Mumbai. He appreciated the achievements of Prakash M. Shetty, Suratkal and Karnoor Mohan Rai.
Joint Secretary of Bunts Sangha, Ulthoor Mohandas Shetty, Billawar Association Thane local committee Chairman Ashok M. Kotiyan, Bunts Sangha City local committee vice chairman Anil Shetty, T. Ravindra Poojary, Ashok Purohit, President of Varthak Nagar Kannada Sangha Ratnakar G Shetty, Businessman Tukaram Rai, Anil Shetty Herga, Nitish Shetty were present as guests.
SV Udayakumar of MIT Manipal and Karnoor Mohan Rai introduced the Artists during the felicitation. Prakash M Shetty, Silver Jubilee committee president Naeenchandra J Shetty, Hon. President Ratnakar Shetty Mundkoor, Secretary Prem B Shetty, treasurer Sunita P Shetty were present.
The concluding ceremony was presided over by CA Shankar B. Shetty president of Bunts Sangha, Mumbai, Aikala Harish Shetty, Vice President of World Bunts, Karnire Vishwanath Shetty. Vice President of Bunts Sangha, Mumbai, Dr. Sathyaprakash Shetty, President of Mulund Bunts, Jayarama S. Malli , CA Sadashiva Shetty, GS of Bunts Sangha Mumbai, CA Satish Shetty, Treasurer of Bunts Sangha, Janardhana Sastry, Aikala Gunapala Shetty, Lion Kishore D Shetty, Ravi Shetty Virar, Lata P. Shetty Chairperson of Ladies Wing, Bunts Sangha, Suresh Shetty, Marata were present as guests. Ashok Pakkala and Karnoor Mohan Rai compared the programme.
All the artists felicitated by the guests present along with Laxminarayana Asranna. In his speech Laxminarayana Asranna said Prakash M. Shetty, Suratkal who loves Art has created a record of raining felicitation to more than 35 deserving senior Yakshagana artists.
