mumbai-kalpesh-rAn advertising agency executive jumped off the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL), leaving behind a voice message for his brother, informing him of his extreme step and that nobody should be blamed for the act. Kalpesh Raut (28), a resident of Kalyan Das Wadi, Chinchpokli, jumped to his death from the Sea link on Friday night. Before jumping, he sent a voice message to his elder brother Rakesh saying, “I am jumping to death and nobody should be blamed for it.”

“I got the message around 12.49 am on Saturday. I could hear the sound of water and wind. I had called him earlier and he had told me he was at the Worli Sea Link,” said Rakesh. With help of friends, Rakesh immediately started a search for his brother at Worli, Marine Drive and Haji Ali but could not find him. When they called on his cell phone on Saturday afternoon, a police constable answered the phone and said that they had found his body near Lotus junction, Worli.

Kalpesh was employed with an advertising agency in Agripada since two years. “He was very good at work and stayed with his aunt and elder brother at Chinchpokli. He used to bring in government advertisements for several papers and was a little disturbed on Friday,” said Sandeep Zagade, his employer.

On the other hand, senior police inspector of Worli police station Deepak Pawar claimed that Kalpesh was “mentally unstable”. Irked by this, Rakesh said, “My brother was not mentally unstable. He used to handle an advertising agency job and office since last two years. We suspect somebody either killed him or he was forced to commit suicide. Kalpesh was drunk when he committed suicide.” However, the police added another angle. According to them, Kalpesh used to have arguments with his aunt and a minor argument had taken place on Friday night. His parents had died long back.(MD)
