BANGALORE: Income tax officials, along with the officials of the Election Commission, reportedly raided the house of a seer Chandrashekhara Swamiji, who is close to several political leaders, in RT Nagar on Saturday evening.

Sources told  that the seer had conducted cash transactions to the tune of Rs 50 to Rs 60 crore during the past month. “We’re checking the material evidence we have. The seer is also a personal astrologer for several prominent politicians in the state and elsewhere in the country. The transactions he made had come from a single source,” an Election Commission official told press.

The raid comes in the wake of a tip-off to officials attached to the the Chief Electoral Officer that the seer may have hoarded crores of rupees at his residence.
