Hampi’s splendid architecture, sculptures and their historical significance have fetched it the tag of the most searched historical site in Karnataka on search engine Google. According to Google search trends for the past six months, Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, pips the opulence of the Mysore palace and Badami caves.

Interestingly, Hampi has been searched the most by people in Goa — a popular tourist destination itself — followed by Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, according to a Google release.

The Mysore palace is the second most famous heritage site searched in Karnataka, followed by Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The other famous places of historical importance such as Gol Gumbaz and Bahubali have been searched the most by Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The Badami cave temples have also attracted a large number of searches. The release also said, with the large number of searches for historical places in the State, Karnataka is fast growing into a popular tourist State among both foreign and domestic tourists.
