Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said the remaining four ministerial berths would be filled after the high command gives its approval.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of a programme organised by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj here, the Chief Minister said the “Cabinet will be expanded only if the high command wishes”. Refusing to say when the exercise would be taken up, he said, “We will discuss the issue with the high command and take it up after its approval. We have not discussed this issue so far.” Mr. Siddaramaiah said the party would finalise the candidates for the byelections to the three Assembly seats in a day or two. The Chief Minister said the bandh called by pro-Kannada organisations on Thursday is in protest against the sexual assault cases and not against the government. Ruling out a CBI probe into the Marathahalli rape case, he said the police were competent enough to deal with it.
