Six people have been remanded in judicial custody in connection with disturbances in Yellur village in Belgaum district, where installation of the signboard stating the village is part of Maharashtra had led to tension.
In a statement in the Council on Wednesday, Home Minister K.J. George said the signboards had been removed and peace restored in the region. “We have taken strong action against those indulging in violence and taking law into their own hands, and will continue to do so,” Mr. George said.
