Bengaluru: Has a senior minister of the Siddaramaiah government persuaded the police to go slow in the Vibgyor High case?
According to sources in the home ministry, the minister is trying to influence the investigation into the alleged rape of the six- year- old at the school for reasons that are still not clear. For instance, why did the police not arrest school principal, Allistair Laporte, vice principal, Jayasree or the staff, who were allegedly involved in a cover-up and go all the way instead to Daman to arrest Rustom Kerawalla, who heads the franchisee in Vadodara, Mumbai, they ask.
A parent of a student at Vibgyor, Devyani Chaudhury says a section of the parents is keen on the arrest of the principal, while others are not. “According to me, the guilty should be arrested and not the innocent ,” she adds.
But when contacted, an investigation officer rubbished claims that there was any political interference. “We are interrogating everybody at the school who needs to questioned in this case. Rustom Kerawalla was arrested on the instructions of the Joint Commissioner of Police,” he said.
