When huge boulders hindered the project, they were blasted with explosives which left several houses partially damaged.
Since then, Malenahalli residents had been demanding compensation for the damages and were stalling the project.
The residents from 13 villages, on Friday, decided to take the matter unto themselves and arrived at Malenahalli in large numbers to take up the stalled work.

But they were halted by Malenahalli residents. Angered by this, the residents from 13 villages allegedly clashed with Malenahalli residents, leaving a few injured.
The police brought the situation under control and shifted the injured to hospital.

They held a peace meeting between the grieving parties and beefed up security in the area.
It is learnt that the explosions were carried out without the consent of Hassan deputy commissioner. Cases have been booked against both the groups.
