Congress membership drive soon

Bangalore: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) will hold a six-month-long membership drive from July and conduct organisational polls at all levels from January next year, KPCC president G Parameshwara announced on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference, Parameshwara said the organisational polls would be held at the block, panchayat, taluk and district levels and the process would be completed by July 2015.

A new KPCC chief and executive committee would be elected in July next year, he said.

Three-day convention

The Congress party was planning to hold a three-day State-level convention on the lines of the one conducted by the All India Congress Committee in October this year.

AICC president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi would be invited for the convention, he said.

Padayatras would be launched across the State from October this year to January next to highlight the achievements of the State government, Parameshwara said.
