Bangalore: The Opposition BJP has decided to take the ruling Congress head-on by raising controversies surrounding ministers and aim at securing the resignation of at least one minister by the end of the month-long legislature session.
On the agenda of the BJP are the Lokayukta complaint against Housing Minister M H Ambareesh over his alleged possession of three sites, non-payment of dues to sugarcane farmers, garbage disposal imbroglio in Bangalore, among others. The BJP is also gearing up to expose a couple of ‘scams,’ allegedly involving two ministers close to Siddaramaiah, party sources said.
The BJP legislature party meeting held on Monday evening discussed on how to corner the government. Senior leaders, including Union Minister Ananth Kumar and B S Yeddyurappa, are said to have advised the legislators to go ballistic against the government.
The BJPLP also decided to form groups of legislators with expertise in a particular department to participate during the discussion on budget proposals for 2014-15. After a long gap, the budget proposals are being discussed department-wise in the legislature. Discussions on the budget for 27 departments would be held.
It was decided that former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa should don the role of the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council.
A meeting to analyse the Lok Sabha results was held prior to the BJPLP meeting. It was felt the momentum of BJP’s good performance in the State during the Lok Sabha elections should be carried forward to win elections to various local urban and rural bodies, including BBMP, sources said.
Meanwhile, the State BJP will hold its State executive meeting on July 11 and 12. The venue is yet to be decided.
