They were beaten to death after they barged into a marriage hall in Tavarekere
Two history-sheeters were beaten to death after they barged into a marriage hall in Tavarekere here on Sunday.
The police identified the dead men as Matti Babu (26), resident of Gangondanahalli, and Khoda Suresh (28), resident of Rajgopal Nagar.
The police said that the two men barged into the room at the Heritage Convention Hall in Tunga Nagar at around 2 a.m. In an attempt to rob people there, they threatened a group of 10 men, who were playing a game of cards, with lethal weapons. The group of 10 men tried to defend itself by snatching away the lethal weapons from the two and then beat them up.
The two were apparently dragged out of the marriage hall and beaten up. Sources in the Police Department said that the two were bludgeoned to death using cement bricks.
According to the police, the marriage of Lakshmi, sister of history-sheeter Gurumurthy, was scheduled at the hall on Sunday.
However, the police said Gurumurthy was not acquainted with the two who attempted to rob the group in the marriage hall.
The police booked a case of murder against two men identified as Mahesh and Prasanna. The two are absconding.
Cases against the other eight have also been booked.
Meanwhile, Lakshmi and Murthy married on Sunday morning as per the plan at the marriage hall amidst heavy police deployment.
