Bangalore: After ‘chai pe charcha’, it’s now Modi ‘vijay chai’. The youth wing of BJP’s City unit has decided to organise Modi vijay chai to mark the occasion of Narendra Modi taking oath as the prime minister on Monday evening.

Tea will be distributed free of cost to people near the State BJP office at Malleswaram as part of celebrations. A huge screen is planned to be put up in front of the party office for public to view the oath taking ceremony that will be held at Rasthrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi. Besides, the youth wing has planned to take out a bike rally from Freedom Park to the State party office at 4 pm.

The youth wing president, Saptagiri Gowda, said tea has become a symbol of victory and pride for the party. “We want to celebrate the occasion of Modi becoming the prime minister by distributing tea free of cost to people,” he added.

Meanwhile, about 40 State BJP leaders, including all three former chief ministers and all the MPs of the party, will be taking part in the oath taking ceremony.

All the members of BJP national executive from the State, including B S Yeddyurappa, D V Sadananda Gowda, Jagadish Shettar, Pralhad Joshi, K S Eshwarappa, C T Ravi, Govind Karjol and Aravind Limbavali, office-bearers of various national-level morchas and cells from the State have been invited to the function. Besides, all MPs of the party will be attending the function.

Most of these leaders left for Delhi on Sunday. Yeddyurappa and leaders close to him are likely to leave for Delhi on Monday morning.

JD(S) national president and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, who has also received the invitation, will be leaving for Delhi on Monday morning, sources said.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has, however, decided not to attend the ceremony. Instead, he has chosen to take part in a couple of functions in Bangalore, including inauguration of CNR Rao underpass and distribution of Kittur Rani Chennamma awards.
