Congress MP highest spender in Mysore

Mysore: A week ahead of the poll, Congress candidate, Adaguru H. Vishwanath has emerged as the biggest spender, splurging Rs 31,42,811, from his personal funds on his campaign in of Mysore-Kodagu constituency, followed by BJP’s Pratap Simha (Rs 19,04,175).

JD(S) candidate, retired high court judge, justice Chandrashekaraiah comes third with a poll expense of Rs 12,13,405, going by the shadow register of expenditure monitor cell, which has tracked the candidates till April 8.

While the lowest spend of Rs 300 is by an Independent candidate, at least two candidates have incurred zero expense. Among the parties, the Congress has spent Rs 89,928 and the BJP, Rs 1,46,415 on the campaign.

While Aam Aadmi Party candidate, M. V. Padmamma has spent Rs 1,09,822 and the party, Rs 2,190 on her campaign, BSP’s C. Mohankumar has splurged Rs 1,09,000 on the election and received Rs 2,090 as support from the party.

JDU candidate, S. P. Mahadevappa has spent Rs 41,813, and Karunadu party candidate and the first woman Kodava to contest the poll, Rathi Poovaiah has spent Rs 39,045 on the election so far. Highly qualified independent candidate, Praveen M.S, has spent Rs 5,700.

The candidates, who submit their expenditure details once in four days, will be expected to file an affidavit showing their total expenditure within 30 days of the declaration of results. Mr Simha has objected to the expenditure calculated by the observers, but the difference is just Rs 3 lakh, according to an officer.
