Bangalore: Hours after flying into the City, after undergoing treatment for lung infection in Singapore, Housing Minister M H Ambarish on Friday plunged into the nitty-gritty of the tumultuous Mandya politics, counselling party candidate Ramya to be with the constituency people than sit idle.

Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp will not connect Ramya to Mandya people, she needs to be in the thick of things physically and speak to them, he reportedly told her.

Social networking sites are not for Mandya. Ramya is new and inexperienced. She must visit the 1,200-odd villages which form part of Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, and meet the people. The rest I shall take care, he added.

Terming it a divine grace that Ramya got elected the first time, he said that his supporters have been instructed to work for Ramya and he would personally be present in Mandya to ensure her victory.

On Ramya’s reported claims that her rapport with Rahul Gandhi would do the trick, Ambarish dismissed it, stating that it would not yield any result without the support of local leaders.

“She may have stated that unknowingly. Now that I am here, I will ensure that the differences within the Mandya district Congress unit are resolved,” Ambarish said.

A meeting of the minister’s supporters has been scheduled for Saturday. Ambarish said he will be campaigning for Nandan Nilekani on April 13, after which he will attend a mega rally in Mandya and campaign for Ramya.
