Four trees on Cunningham Road have been marked for being felled to make way for road development work under Tender SURE project.

Hasiru Usiru, an organisation working for environment issues, protested against the proposed felling on Wednesday. The protestors maintained that the city had already lost a significant amount of green cover for the sake of “development” and demanded that no more trees be felled. Darshana Mitra, lawyer with Alternative Law Forum, told The Hindu, “the BBMP is justifying the need to cut trees to provide better facilities to pedestrians However, I fail to understand how it benefits them.”
