The Lokayukta sleuths conducted simultaneous raids at 21 places across the State including Bangalore City and unearthed properties worth Rs 10.65 crore disproportionate to known sources of income of officers.
The raids took place on the residences of offices of eight officers of various departments in Bangalore City, Bidar, Belgaum, Chitradurga and Chikkaballapur.
The Lokayukta police booked cases under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against them, said Additional Director General of Police, Lokayukta, H N Satyanarayana Rao.
The officers who were raided included: Nagaraju (chief engineer – BBMP, Bangalore, disproportionate properties up to Rs 2 crore, about 125.25 percent more than his income from known sources), B S Narasimha Murthy (Assistant Engineer – BDA, Bangalore, disproportionate properties up to Rs 71.72 lakh, about 239 percent more than known sources of income), Kalasegowda (section officer – Education department, Bangalore, disproportionate properties up to Rs 65.45 lakh, about 131 percent more than income), M V Vijay Kumar, (AEE – Electrical), BDA, Bangalore, disproportionate properties up to Rs 2 crore, about 243.97 percent more than income from known sources), K B Ramakrishna Reddy (AEE – KSRTC headquarters, Bangalore, disproportionate properties up to Rs 73 lakh, about 116 percent more than his income from known sources).
Three officers posted at Bidar, Belgaum and Chitradurga were also raided on Saturday and they were: Subhash Marakunde (Executive Engineer – Irrigation, Bidar, disproportionate properties up to Rs 75.35 lakh, about 110.81 percent more than his known sources of income), V G Srinivasaiah (Senior Motor Vehicle Inspector – Chitradurga, disproportionate properties up to Rs 2.63 crore, about 277.68 percent more than his income) and Vitthal Basappa Savadatti (Assistant Engineer – HESCOM, Belgaum, disproportionate properties up to Rs 1 crore, about 173.51 percent more than the known source of income).
The Lokayukta officers acted on definite tips and raided five officers in Bangalore on Saturday. Their bank accounts and lockers are being verified, Rao added.
