Ramya, MP, attracted youth and women in large numbers at several places here on Saturday, during her election campaign.

The actor-turned-politician, one of the star campaigners in the State, had kicked off her ‘padayatra’ in the district a few days back. She had already taken out her walkathon in several places in Maddur, K.R. Pet and Pandavapura taluks. On Saturday, she sought support at several places in the city.

Visibly confident of her victory, Ms. Ramya visited Guthalu and adjoining places here and later visited Nagamangala to participate in a programme. She visited shops and eateries in several parts of the city, and also had a cup of coffee at a tea shop near Guthalu.

Meanwhile, Muslims at Guthalu extended their support to Ms. Ramya in the elections. The MP visited local leader Munavar Khan’s Guthalu residence where she had breakfast. Community leaders from different parts of the city garlanded her and promised their support.

They said that they would appeal to the Muslims to support her, as “Congress is the party that could safeguard the interests of minorities in the State.”

Addressing presspersons at Guthalu, Ms. Ramya said that she had been working for the development of the district since past five months and had brought several projects for Mandya.

The election campaign walkathon saw some prominent Congress leaders in attendance, including M.S. Atmananda, former Minister. However, Housing Minister M.H. Ambareesh’s supporters were absent.
