KJP promises pension for farmers, free electricity to irrigation pumpsets & also crop loan waiver

Bangalore: Keeping an eye on the farmers’ vote bank, the Karnataka Janata Paksha on Saturday released its manifesto promising waiver of crop loans and providing pension of Rs. 500 for all farmers aged 65 and above, if it was voted to power.

The KJP also promised supply of free electricity to irrigation pumpsets and completion of all irrigation projects in the next five years. It also promised extension of Bhagyalakshmi and Sandhya Suraksha schemes to middle-class families.

KJP president and former Chief Minister B.S.Yeddyurappa released the manifesto in the presence of party leaders Shobha Karandlaje, V. Dhananjaya Kumar and K.H. Srinivasa here.

The manifesto said that loans up to Rs. 1 lakh advanced by cooperatives to farmers, weavers and fishermen would be waived if the party came to power.

Another major KJP promise was establishment of a women’s cooperative bank. It also promised granting of loans at the rate of 1 per cent for women. Stating that the party was committed for implementing the D.M. Nanjundappa report, Mr. Yeddyurappa said funds would be released to all backward taluks to develop infrastructure.

To woo voters in and around Bangalore city, it promised establishment of a new Bangalore (Nava Bengaluru) near the city. Mr. Srinivasa prepared the party manifesto.
