Bangalore, Nov 21, 2013, DHNS: A lorry which broke down on Kengal Hanumanthaiah Road (Double Road) around 8 am on Thursday created a traffic deadlock, giving riders and commuters a tough time for several hours.
According to the Wilson Garden Traffic police, the axle of the lorry was broken, forcing it to halt on the road. This resulted in traffic jams on Double road, Residency Road, Shantinagar and surrounding areas.
Vehicles were also seen moving slowly on the Double Road flyover towards Residency Road. People who were travelling by buses were seen alighting and walking the rest of the distance.
Even after the lorry was cleared and traffic movement returned to near normal, jams near Wilson Garden continued till late afternoon. Commuters were forced to take diversions at Vellara junction.
Later, a protest held by KSRTC workers on KH Road added to the chaos.
