BANGALORE: A 40-year-old labour contractor, a native of Bihar, was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his 17-year-old daughter for the past three months.
The girl stayed in a posh apartment complex on Bagalgunte Main Road with her father, his second wife and their two children. She’s his daughter by the first wife who he had divorced.
The girl had been threatened by her father not to talk about the assaults. She called the police control room on Monday when he was in Delhi on work. The control room alerted the jurisdictional Peenya police.
The girl was rescued from her home and taken to Vani Vilas Hospital where tests proved she had been sexually assaulted. Investigators said she had been staying with her mother in Bihar. After she completed her schooling, her father brought her to Bangalore promising to take care of her higher education. However, he didn’t enroll her in a college.
The culprit was arrested on landing in Bangalore on Tuesday night. He insisted he was innocent and claimed that his divorced wife was using their daughter to settle scores with him. The accused was also subjected to medical tests at Victoria Hospital.
The girl’s mother arrived from Bihar and took the minor into her custody.
Police said the accused is a big-time labour contractor who brought workers in their hundreds for huge construction projects in Bangalore.
