Bangalore, August 3, 2013: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday alleged that JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy’s greed for power had forced the byelection to the Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha seat. This is also causing unnecessary burden on the exchequer.

Addressing party workers, who had gathered at the Ramanagara district Congress office, the chief minister said H D Deve Gowda’s family had done nothing for the constituency, despite being blessed by the citizens of Bangalore Rural.

He said that even during his tenure as MP for the constituency, Kumaraswamy never spoke anything about the welfare of the State or the nation in Parliament. “He did not even utilise the MP funds for the development of the constituency,” he pointed out.

The chief minister, while congratulating D K Suresh for filing his nomination papers, alleged that JD(S) had lost its claim of being secular. “Perhaps, it is best to remove the (S) from JD(S),” he said sarcastically, hinting at the alleged tacit understanding between JD(S) and BJP.

“The Congress party workers should ensure that Anitha Kumaraswamy, who ran away from Madhugiri to Channapatna and lost there in the Assembly elections, loses in the Lok Sabha byelection also,” he said.

KPCC president G Parameshwara also said that Kumaraswamy was the reason for the byelection and that he had cheated the people of the constituency.
‘Make DKS minister’

Siddaramaiah was mobbed by hundreds of party workers on Saturday demanding a response as to why D K Shivakumar was denied a minsterial post in the government.

Siddaramaiah said that the party was bound by the party high command’s diktat.

“Shivakumar has all the requirements to be a minister. But we have to abide by the high command’s directions,” he said.
