Lokayukta cops raid four govt officials

BANGALORE: Lokayukta sleuths on Friday raided three engineers, one each from Hassan, Davanagere and Bellary, and an office superintendent of a government hospital from Hassan. They unearthed disproportionate assets worth over Rs 2.8 crore from these government employees.

The officials in Lokayukta net are: SL Haleshappa, in charge assistant executive engineer (AEE), Karnataka Housing Board (KHB), Bellary; SL Anandappa, assistant engineer, Grade-II, zilla panchayat office, Davanagere; CR Manjunath, office superintendent, government hospital, Hassan, and GP Anand, another assistant engineer with Hassan City Municipal Council.

SL Anandappa: He purchased two sites measuring 2,400 sqft each in his wife Pushpalatha’s name in Davanagere’s SS Extenstion. He has shown that one of the sites was gifted to him. He also constructed a duplex in one of the sites. He has another site in Vidyanagar, Davanagere, three acres of land in Kydalu village, Davanagere taluk, besides two more sites near Davanagere town. He also has 200 gms of gold jewellery and three kg of silver articles, besides seven LIC policies with a face value of Rs 5.37 lakh.

His total assets and income came up to Rs 75.93 lakh.

GP Anand: Works in urban development departmenthad joined service in 2005 as a permanent employee. Apart from an ancestral home, he purchased a site in his wife Shubha’s name in Hassan’s Udayagiri Layout and another house in the same layout. He also has over 500 gms of gold jewellery.

Lokayukta police are yet to examine the bank locker, keys of which were found from his house. Total assets unearthed sums up to over Rs 89 lakh.

CR Manjunath: With total assets of over Rs 68 lakh, he has two houses in Hassan’s Kuvempunagar and another under-construction house in Channapatna extension.

Haleshappa: Haleshappa has total assets worth over Rs 98 lakh, including a house in his wife Mamatha’s name in Lakshmipura extenstion, Vinobanagar, Shimoga. He also has another house in HUDCO Colony, off Shimoga.

He also bought a site in Suvarnanagar in Bangalore and has 1.26 acres of land in Davanagere. in Chennagiri village of Davangere district.
