Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah’s journey to Mysore on Saturday was halted as the helicopter meant to carry him developed a snag at Bengaluru’s HAL airport.

The silencer of the helicopter caught fire and all the passengers had to disembark. No injuries were reported.

After the development of the Kempe Gowda International Airport outside Bengaluru city, the HAL airport which used to be the city’s main airport, is now only used for defence and VIP flights.
