Make Parameshwara CM for at least 30 months, supporters demand

BANGALORE: Close on the heels of the 28-member Siddaramaiah cabinet being sworn in, the supporters of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dr G Parameshwara have demanded that he should be given at least 30-month tenure as chief minister in the future.

The supporters under the banner of ‘Dr G Parameshwara fans association’ have declared that they would continue holding peaceful dharnas/jathas in Tumkur as well Bangalore so as to attract the attention of congress high command to consider their demand Parameshwara is a senior Dalit leader.

In the 65-year history of Karnataka a dalit has never been made a chief minister. Parameshwara was responsible for the success of Congress party in the assembly elections.

“Because of his leadership, the party was able to secure 121 seats with 27 MLAs belonging to SC/ST category. So, he should be made a deputy chief minister with immediate effect. Thereafter, he should be made chief minister for at least 30-month tenure,” Puttamma, president of Dr G Parameshwara fans Association has demanded.

The members also opposed the reported moves to involve Dr Parameshwara in central politics.
