Two minor girls were allegedly kidnapped and raped by three people in a coffee estate in Sakleshpur taluk on Monday evening. The incident came to light on Wednesday when the girls met the police and narrated the incident. The accused are absconding.
The girls, one 13-year-old and another 16, were alleged kidnapped and raped by Nirvana Shetti of Iguru, and Lokesha and Sudhakara of Kumbakere in Sakleshpur taluk, according to the police. It is said that the accused were familiar to the girls. As the girls did not return home on Monday, their parents filed a missing complaint with the Yeslur police on Tuesday.
It is said the girls stayed in an abandoned house on Monday night and took a bus to Hassan the next day. They returned home around 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
The parents informed the police about the alleged kidnapping and rape on Wednesday. Sakleshpur Deputy Superintend of Police P.V. Sneha and other police officers collected details of the accused from the victims.
